Travel health checklist: what to sort before you fly

Travel is back to pre pandemic levels and we are seeing more last minute requests for jabs and antimalarials than ever. Some vaccines need a course of two or three doses, so the earlier you start, the better.

Six to eight weeks before you fly

  • Book a travel assessment so we can review every country on your itinerary
  • Order any repeat medicines you will need for the full trip plus a few extra days
  • Check whether your destination has restrictions on bringing in certain medicines

The week before you go

Pick up your travel pack, label everything clearly, and split it across hand luggage and hold luggage in case a bag goes missing. Pack a printed list of your medicines and any allergies.

What to put in the small bag

  • Pain relief and a thermometer
  • Antihistamines for unexpected reactions
  • Rehydration sachets and an anti diarrhoea remedy
  • Plasters, antiseptic wipes and a small roll of micropore tape
  • Sun cream, after sun and insect repellent

Pop in for ten minutes and we will help you tailor the kit to where you are going.
